Bedford - Stuyvesant

Located right next to Williamsburg, Bedford- Stuyvesant is the perfect neighborhood for someone looking for the trendiness of Williamsburg without the outrageous prices and hoards of people.  Bed- Stuy, as it is colloquially known, is situated between Flushing Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, Classon Avenue, and Broadway, and is unsurprisingly an amazing location to move to.

Serviced by the A/C, G, and J/M/Z lines, getting into Manhattan, Queens, or another part of Brooklyn is hassle free, and if during the warmer months a beach day is in order, then the A train takes you directly to Rockaway Beach.  These things all make the area great when it comes to public transportation.

As well as being in a great location, the neighborhood itself is a beauty.  It is a national historic district, with massive brownstones and picturesque mansions. As you walk down the streets you see a multitude of different architectural styles such as Utilitarian, Beaux- Arts, Renaissance, and more, all equally as magnificent.  Massive trees line almost all the streets, and during the fall when the leaves are changing colors are even more spectacular.

Bed- Stuy is also home to many incredible restaurants.  One of the most well-known is Peaches, where the Sunday brunch lines constantly reach around the block. If after brunch you are still craving something sweet, then there are plenty of delicious bakeries in the neighborhood.  Although the neighborhood was originally Dutch, there is now a large Afro- Caribbean population living in the area, so if you are looking to stray from your more typical meal, then there are plenty of delicious Caribbean restaurants in the area as well.

In addition to having great food, Bed- Stuy has many bars perfect for dancing and having a late night drink.  This is an iconic neighborhood within the rap sphere, as it is the birthplace of many famous rappers including Jay- Z, Lil’ Kim, The Notorious B.I.G, Mos Def, and many more.  Walk the streets where these icons grew up, and if you are lucky, then maybe a taste of their musical genius will rub off on you.
